INSTAGRAM BEST PRACTICES FOR SMALL BUSINESSES

BECOME AN “OFFICIAL BUSINESS” ON INSTAGRAM

It’s easier than it sounds. Are you posting for your business under your personal account? Not sure? Head to your account settings and see if you have the option to click “switch to professional account”.

USE KEYWORDS IN YOUR PROFILE NAME (NOT YOUR USERNAME)!

For example, if your nail salon doesn’t include the words “nail salon” in your name, you might want to add that into your name on Instagram. (You can update your name by clicking edit profile on your profile page)  This will allow people to find you through a search when using those keywords.

HAVE A BIO THAT TELLS USERS VISITING YOUR PAGE WHAT YOUR BUSINESS IS ALL ABOUT.

Make sure to include the most important information, like what you do and how you can best serve them, where they can find you and how can they contact you!

BE CONSISTENT!

Once you find posts that your followers are engaging with the most - keep posting that type of content and keep developing your strategy.

USE HASHTAGS, BUT NOT JUST ANY HASHTAGS.

Hashtags need to be relevant to the image you are posting and the audience you are targeting. Visit our hashtag strategy blog post for best practices!
